Michael Joseph Caillouet, 47, of Cadillac, Michigan, was arraigned on December 9 in the 84th District Court in Cadillac. The arraignment followed his extradition from Butler County, Kansas by the U.S. Marshals Service. Caillouet faces two counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and one count of Misdemeanor Exhibiting Sexually Explicit Material to a Minor. These charges stem from alleged sexual abuse of a minor child between 2016 and 2019 and showing the child pornography.

The Wexford County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Caillouet in September after Michigan State Police received reports of the alleged crimes in March. His extradition is part of Operation Survivor Justice, a collaborative effort involving the Michigan Department of Attorney General, local county prosecutors, and the U.S. Marshals Service. The operation aims to locate and return fugitive offenders with outstanding sexual assault warrants to Michigan.

“Operation Survivor Justice continues to show just how important these partnerships are in locating and returning individuals with sexual assault warrants,” said Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. “Survivors show tremendous courage in coming forward, and my office will keep relying on this collaboration to ensure that those accused of these serious offenses are brought back to Michigan to face their charges in court.”

Caillouet’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 16 at 10:30 a.m., where he will attend a probable cause conference.

Authorities remind the public that criminal charges are allegations; defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The Department does not provide booking photos.
