Keino Hughes, a 42-year-old resident of Saginaw, was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession with intent to distribute cocaine. The sentencing took place on August 14, 2025, before U.S. District Court Judge Thomas L. Ludington.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr., who was joined by James Deir, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).

“U.S. District Court Judge Thomas L. Ludington imposed sentence on Hughes following his guilty plea for possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.”

According to information from court documents, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Hughes’s home in July 2024 as part of an investigation led by the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team (BAYANET) and ATF Special Agents. During the search, officers found quantities of cocaine and cocaine base, two firearms, digital scales used for weighing drugs, and more than $17,000 in cash.

“This investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, in conjunction with the Michigan State Police Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney William Orr.”

The case highlights ongoing cooperation between federal and state agencies in addressing drug-related offenses in Saginaw.
