Devante Thomas, a 32-year-old resident of Saginaw, has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr., who was joined by James Deir, Special Agent in Charge of the Detroit Field Office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).
U.S. District Court Judge Thomas L. Ludington handed down the sentence after Thomas pleaded guilty to the charge.
Court documents show that in January 2025, Michigan State Police stopped Thomas’s vehicle on I-75 in Birch Run and discovered more than four kilograms of methamphetamine. Following this traffic stop, members of the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team and ATF special agents executed a search warrant at Thomas’s home. There they found an additional 579 grams of methamphetamine, along with 27 grams of fentanyl, 108 grams of cocaine, and four firearms.
The investigation was carried out by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms working together with the Michigan State Police Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team. Assistant United States Attorney William Orr prosecuted the case.
