A disabled senior citizen is taking legal action against a property manager, accusing him of fraud and harassment. Dianne Haytham filed a complaint in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan on November 17, 2025, against David Bueche. The case brings to light allegations of property fraud, identity theft, and uninhabitable living conditions.

The complaint details how Haytham, who has lived at 409 S Francis Ave in Lansing, Michigan for approximately 30 years under a rent-to-own agreement with the late James E. VanDe Bunte, has faced continuous harassment and fraudulent activities by Bueche. According to Haytham, Bueche has been defrauding the government and extorting money from her through false fees and threats of eviction. The plaintiff alleges that Bueche’s actions violate multiple federal laws including conspiracy to defraud (18 U.S.C. § 371), transportation of stolen goods (18 U.S.C. § 2344), and making false statements to the government (18 U.S.C. § 1001).

Haytham also accuses Bueche of creating unsafe living conditions by neglecting necessary repairs and maintenance work on the property. The complaint mentions severe issues such as mold infestation, leaking pipes, and pest problems that have not been addressed despite numerous requests for repair work orders. These conditions have allegedly led to health risks for Haytham, including respiratory illnesses.

Furthermore, Haytham claims that Bueche has engaged in identity theft by wrongfully using her personal information for economic gain and attempting to evict her without just cause. The complaint states that Bueche has forged documents and used scare tactics to threaten eviction during winter months when Haytham would be most vulnerable.

In response to these grievances, Haytham seeks various forms of relief from the court. She requests a professional estimate to take over full possession of the property as compensation for overpayments made over the years. Additionally, she seeks maximum penalties against Bueche for his alleged unlawful acts and demands an investigation into his conduct.

Haytham is represented by attorney Robert K. Ochodnicky (P75766) while Judge Paul L. Maloney presides over the case with Case ID: 1:25-cv-01471-PLM-PJG.
