Lisa E. Mayo has filed a lawsuit against a major automotive company and one of its managers, alleging unlawful sex discrimination, hostile work environment, and retaliation. The complaint was filed on November 11, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan against Ford Motor Company and Jeffrey Nemeth.
The plaintiff, Lisa E. Mayo, claims that she has been subjected to discriminatory practices since she began working at Ford in 2012. According to the complaint, Mayo was assigned additional duties without compensation when a managerial position went unfilled in 2023. Under the supervision of Plant Manager Jeffrey Nemeth at the Woodhaven Stamping Plant (WSP), Mayo alleges that she was unfairly targeted through a biased “360 review” process not applied to her male counterparts. On October 6, 2023, Mayo was allegedly placed on “Special Assignment,” which isolated her from her peers and damaged her professional reputation. She further contends that after filing an internal complaint in April 2024 and subsequently an EEOC Charge of Discrimination in June 2024, retaliation intensified with public humiliation by Nemeth and unjustified reductions in her compensation.
Mayo is seeking back pay, compensatory and punitive damages, reinstatement or front pay, declaratory and injunctive relief, as well as attorney’s fees and costs. Her claims are grounded in violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Michigan’s Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act (ELCRA). The lawsuit outlines several counts including sex discrimination (disparate treatment), hostile work environment, retaliation under both federal and state laws.
The case underscores significant allegations against Ford Motor Company for perpetuating a discriminatory workplace culture under Nemeth’s management. Mayo argues that despite meeting performance objectives consistently over the years, her career progression has been stifled due to gender bias. The legal action aims to hold both Ford Motor Company and Jeffrey Nemeth accountable for their roles in fostering an inequitable work environment.
Representing Lisa E. Mayo is attorney Jeffrey S. Burg from Law Offices Jeffrey S. Burg Esq., located in Southfield, Michigan. The case is presided over by Judge [Name] under Case ID: 2:25-cv-13585-MFL-EAS.
