The State Bar of Michigan announced on May 5 that there is one week left to secure discounted room rates at the Grand Hotel and a $50 savings on registration for the upcoming Great Lakes Legal Conference.

The deadline to register with these discounts is May 12, ahead of the conference scheduled for June 12-13. The event is open to all State Bar of Michigan members and offers opportunities to connect with legal professionals, learn from experts, and participate in continuing legal education sessions. The conference features four learning tracks: Leadership, Legal Updates, Litigation, and Practice Management & Technology. Attendees can choose sessions across tracks to tailor their experience.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Michael J. Steinberg, a civil rights lawyer known for his storytelling appearances on NPR’s “The Moth Radio Hour.” Additional speakers include Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Megan Cavanagh, State Bar of Michigan President Lisa J. Hamameh, and SBM Executive Director Peter Cunningham. Participants may also meet individually with Molly Ranns, director of the Lawyer and Judges Assistance Program, as well as Marjory Raymer, SBM’s director of communications.

The Michigan Bar Association promotes diversity, inclusion, public legal education to enhance social wellbeing; uses its Lansing headquarters for administrative operations; functions as a public body under the authority of the Michigan Supreme Court; enhances justice administration and supports the legal profession; operates under governance by a Board of Commissioners and Representative Assembly; and administers programs recognizing key legal events across Michigan—all according to the official website.
