In a recent court filing, Eddie Pritchett has brought a lawsuit against Saginaw Police Department officers Rebecca Heinz and Ethan Morrow. The case, filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, alleges violations of Pritchett’s Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights. The incident occurred on July 26, 2023, when Pritchett was arrested on his porch for possession of a firearm while intoxicated after calling 911 to report a suspicious person. Pritchett claims that the arrest was made without probable cause and that excessive force was used during his arrest. The charges against him were later dismissed, but he incurred $1,500 in attorney fees and suffered emotional distress.

Pritchett is seeking compensation for damages including medical expenses and emotional distress under 42 USC § 1983. His attorney, Michael W. Edmunds from Gault Davison PC, has demanded a jury trial.
