In a compelling legal battle, a disabled senior citizen is taking on city officials in Pontiac, Michigan, alleging a series of civil rights violations. Arnold Kuerbitz filed the complaint on November 10, 2025, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan against several defendants including Tim Greimel and other city employees. The lawsuit accuses these individuals of conspiring to violate his federal civil rights under the guise of enforcing city ordinances.

The plaintiff, Arnold Kuerbitz, claims that his rights were infringed upon when he was cited for alleged ordinance violations concerning rubbish accumulation on his property. According to Kuerbitz, these charges were baseless and part of a broader scheme by city officials to levy illegal taxes on vulnerable residents like himself. “This indigent disabled Plaintiff was previously sentenced and ordered to pay $100 Fine,” Kuerbitz states in his complaint, highlighting how he was penalized without due process. He argues that these actions are part of a retaliatory pattern against him for previous legal actions he took against the city.

Kuerbitz’s complaint details several instances where he believes city officials acted unlawfully. For example, he mentions an incident from March 20, 2018, where similar charges were dismissed against another resident by Judge Cynthia T. Walker. This case serves as evidence for Kuerbitz’s claim that the city’s enforcement actions are inconsistent and discriminatory. Furthermore, he accuses the defendants of fraudulently presenting evidence in court and misleading judges to secure favorable rulings.

Seeking justice and protection from further retaliation, Kuerbitz is requesting both declaratory and injunctive relief from the court. He demands that the court issue orders preventing any further discriminatory or retaliatory acts by the defendants while also seeking monetary damages amounting to $1 million for their alleged misconduct. Additionally, Kuerbitz is advocating for this case to be treated as a class action suit due to its potential impact on other similarly affected residents.

Representing himself pro se in this legal endeavor, Arnold Kuerbitz stands firm in his allegations against Pontiac’s municipal authorities. The case has been assigned to Judge Judith E. Levy with referral to Judge Anthony P. Patti under Case ID 5:25-cv-13566-JEL-APP.
