Connie Carroll has filed a lawsuit against Zimmy Inc., operating as Zimmy’s Tavern, in the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. The case centers on allegations of sex and gender harassment, disability discrimination, and retaliation following her termination after seeking medical care for workplace-induced depression and anxiety. Carroll claims she faced severe harassment from male coworkers and was dismissed when she sought therapy for her condition. The complaint includes multiple counts under federal and state laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Michigan’s Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act, and Michigan’s Workers’ Disability Compensation Act. Carroll seeks compensation for lost wages, emotional distress, attorney fees, and other damages.

A Hastings man has been indicted for allegedly stealing more than $100,000 in federal funds over several years through fraudulent collection practices involving Social Security benefits and food assistance programs. Authorities say if convicted he could face up to twenty years in prison.
