The United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan announced on April 16 that service to its Case Management/Electronic Case Files (CM/ECF) system has been restored following an outage earlier in the day. The disruption lasted from approximately noon until 3:00 p.m., according to a statement from the court.

The CM/ECF system is essential for filing and accessing court documents electronically, making its availability important for attorneys, litigants, and court staff. Temporary outages can impact case management and legal proceedings that rely on timely electronic filings.

“Update: CM/ECF service has been restored after an outage from approximately 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The system is functioning normally,” the court said in its announcement.

A previous notice had informed users that “CM/ECF was unavailable due to an issue.” No further details were provided regarding the cause of the disruption or whether any filings were affected during this period.

The restoration of service means normal operations have resumed for those who depend on electronic access to case files. Observers will be watching for any additional updates should similar issues arise in the future.
